Wharram Tangarao built in 1989 in Vancouver BC out of mahogany plywood, doug fir framing, and fiber-glassed with West system epoxy.
It has the original Bolted cross beams. In 2020 the beams and hardware were all removed, re-built, the beams were fiberglass sheathed, and all through holes were lined with G-10 FRP.
Rig and Rigging +

The standing rigging is all fully served New England STS synthetic cable, Hayn turnbuckles, and custom machined aluminum dead-eyes and tangs.
Sails +
The mainsail is handled by a 6 to 1 block and tackle on an 8 foot traveler.
The Roller Furling Genoa was built in 2023 by Taylor sails in Sequim Washington. It is handled by large self tailing Harken Winches.
There are 4 self tailing winches in total, two for the genoa and two for other line handling needs like the roller furler, spinaker, or preventer.

The rudders are lashed to the aft stem posts with dyneema and have a low friction linkage that is easily driven by wheel steering or a low power Pelagic autopilot.

It has 300 watts of solar panels with a Victron MPPT charge controller, and a victron charger/inverter that can supply up to 2000w 120VAC power.
The electrical loads are all high efficiency systems and the batteries almost never are drained more than 10% of their total AH capacity.
Navigation +
It has a B&G multifunction display with C-map navigation suite,
Digital Yacht AIS transponder that is tied into the VHF radio.
Awesome pelagic autopilot.

It has a low maintenance Lavac toilet with a 20 gallon holding tank that can be pumped to a pump out station or overboard when offshore.
It has two 20 gallon potable water tanks with an electric and foot pump water system.
Owner comments +
Overall it is a great boat for a couple or a family.
We have sailed it extensively in the Puget Sound and inside passage.
For coastal and inland sailing it is ready to go.
With a little work it could be set up to support extended offshore sailing; I would install a water maker, jack-lines, add locks and cables to the railings, install redundant navigation equipment, improve the dogs on the hatches, and improve the reefing system for the mainsail.
Otherwise it is ready to go.
